Urgency Increases for
Peace Negotiations to Avoid a Full-Scale WWIII
- Russia threatened to take asymmetric measures if the West escalates the nuclear situation.
- Ukraine struck an oil terminal in Crimea and former Russian president has called for the “complete” dismantling of the “Kiev
regime”.
- The UK confirmed depleted uranium munitions are being used against Russians in Ukraine and US General reported more Russian forces than at the start of the war.
- US Navy detected increased activity by Russian submarines in Atlantic while they foiled a Ukrainian attempt to bomb
Moscow using NATO weapons.
- Congress proposed a ‘Ukraine Victory Resolution’ which was deemed as a suicide pact as the China-Russia threat could decimate Americans’ finances.
- Chinese President Xi Jinping had a phone call with Zelensky, seen as a diplomatic coup but faces hurdles as peace
broker.
The escalating tensions between NATO and Russia have reached a critical point, with multiple actions and reactions threatening to spiral into a full-scale hot war. Russia has warned of taking asymmetric measures if the West continues to escalate the nuclear situation, while Ukraine has made a strike on a Russian oil terminal in Crimea. The Former Russian
President has called for the complete dismantling of the Kiev regime, and the UK has confirmed using depleted uranium munitions against Russians in Ukraine.
US General reports that more Russian forces are present in Ukraine than at the beginning of the war, and the US Navy has detected increased activity by Russian submarines in the Atlantic. Meanwhile, a Ukrainian
attempt to bomb Moscow using NATO weapons was foiled. Congress has proposed a Ukraine Victory Resolution, which has been deemed a suicide pact, given the potential decimation of Americans’ finances in the face of the China-Russia threat.
The recent diplomatic coup of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s phone call with Zelensky could be a ray of hope, but it faces significant
hurdles as a peace broker. The need for peace negotiations between NATO and Russia is more urgent than ever before, as the consequences of a full-scale WWIII are too catastrophic to imagine.
Russia could take asymmetric measures
if West pursues nuclear escalation — MFA – Military & Defense – TASS
Russia could take certain asymmetric steps if the United States and NATO pursue escalation in the deployment of nuclear weapons in Europe, Vladimir Yermakov, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Non-Proliferation and Arms Control Department, said in an interview with TASS.
“If the United States and NATO decide to escalate things further, we will assess the new risks to identify an [appropriate] response, including an asymmetric one,” the diplomat said, when asked whether the West could deploy its nukes close to Belarus’ borders in the wake of Russia’s decision to station part of its nuclear arsenal on Belarusian soil.
Ukraine explains strike on oil terminal in Crimea — RT Russia & Former Soviet Union
Saturday’s drone
attack on an oil terminal in Russia’s Crimea was part of Kiev’s preparations for its planned counteroffensive, Natalya Gumenyuk, the spokeswoman for the Ukrainian military’s southern command, has claimed.
An explosion rocked the key port of Sevastopol on Saturday morning as a UAV crashed into one of the fuel-storage facilities in the city. The blaze engulfed about a thousand square meters and
destroyed four oil tanks, local authorities said. There were no fatalities or injuries as a result of the incident, they added.
Kiev has been saying for a long time that undermining the Russian military’s logistics was “one of the elements of preparation for powerful, active actions by the Defense Forces” of Ukraine, Gumenyuk said during a live TV appearance on Sunday.
Speaking about the previous day’s attack in Sevastopol, she claimed that “this work represents that preparation for a broad, large-scale offensive, which everybody is expecting.”
Crimea, which reunited with Russia in 2014 following a referendum held after the violent coup in Kiev that year, has been a frequent target of aerial and naval drone raids since the conflict erupted into open fighting in February last year. The Ukrainian military and the authorities in Kiev have usually been reluctant to take responsibility for the attacks, most of which have been repelled by Russian
forces.
In an interview with Nordic media outlets on Friday, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that the “counteroffensive will happen” and expressed hope that it’ll allow Kiev to “de-occupy” Crimea as well as Russia’s newly-incorporated territories: the People’s Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, and the Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions.
UK Confirms Depleted Uranium Munitions Being Used Against Russians In Ukraine | ZeroHedge
The British military has confirmed that thousands of depleted uranium rounds are now in Ukraine, despite prior vehement Russian warnings not to follow through with the transfer.
“We have sent thousands of rounds of Challenger 2 ammunition to Ukraine, including depleted uranium armour-piercing rounds,” British Armed Forces Minister James Heappey said while fielding a question from Scottish MP Kenny MacAskill.
Heappey confirmed that the controversial
munitions “are now under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU)” and that the UK Defense Ministry “does not monitor the locations from where DU rounds are fired by the AFU in Ukraine.”
The defense chief was also grilled by MPs over whether the UK is tracking the rates of depleted uranium rounds are being used against Russian forces, to
which he responded, “For operational security reasons, we will not comment on Ukrainian usage rates for the rounds provided.”
Ex-Russian
president calls for ‘complete’ dismantling of ‘Kiev regime’ – The Burning Platform
Only a crushing military defeat will “calm down” the Ukrainian leadership, Dmitry Medvedev has said
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has called for the “complete
dismantling” of the “Kiev regime,” as well as for inflicting “mass destruction” on the country’s military personnel and hardware.
Medvedev, who currently serves as deputy chair of Russia’s National Security Council, made the remarks in a Telegram post on Friday, commenting on an interview Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky recently gave to several Nordic media
outlets. He summarized Zelensky’s comments as consisting of demands for more weapons from Kiev’s Western backers and promises of a successful counteroffensive, including an attack on Crimea, while also warning that the conflict may drag on for “decades.”
To successfully foil Kiev’s plans, Russia must inflict “mass destruction of personnel and military equipment” during
the much-hyped Ukrainian counteroffensive and inflict a “maximum military defeat” on Kiev’s military, Medvedev said. Ultimately, the “Nazi regime in Kiev” must be “completely dismantled” and demilitarized throughout the entire territory of “former Ukraine,” he added.
Apart from that, Russia must pursue those who manage to flee, and seek “retribution” against the “key
figures of the Nazi regime, regardless of their location and without statute of limitations,” Medvedev stressed. Anything short of that would not suffice, the ex-president believes.
Hal Turner Radio Show – US General: Russian Forces in Ukraine MORE than at start of War! “No real attrition”
A senior US military commander in Europe told lawmakers Wednesday that Russia has plenty more firepower, has lost thousands of troops, but present troop levels are MORE than at the start of the Ukraine
operation. Stunningly, the General says Russia has seen “no real attrition.”
“The Russian ground force has been degenerated somewhat by this conflict, although it is bigger today than it was at the beginning of the conflict,” Gen. Christopher Cavoli, the commander of US European Command (EURCOM), told the House Armed Services Committee.
“The Air Force has lost very little, they’ve lost 80 planes. They have another 1,000 fighters and fighter bombers,” he said. “The Navy has lost one ship.”
Last month, General Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, testified before Congress and
said that Russian troops are “getting slaughtered” in their fight for Bakhmut.
The losses appear to be only a fraction of Russia’s total military force. Cavoli said that “much of the Russian military has not been affected negatively” by its invasion of Ukraine.
U.S.: Russian Subs in Atlantic ‘More Active Than We’ve Seen Them in Years’ | National News | U.S. News (usnews.com)
The threat posed by Russia’s undersea forces serves as only one example of how its military retains its capabilities despite the war in Ukraine, top U.S. military officials warn.
Russia has increased its submarine presence in the Atlantic at a higher level than ever in recent years, the top U.S. officer overseeing operations in Europe said
Wednesday, citing one of several examples contradicting conclusions that the military loyal to Russian President Vladimir Putin has been severely degraded by his war in Ukraine.
“The Russians have been more active than we’ve seen them in years,” Army Gen. Chris Cavoli, the top commander for NATO and U.S. military operations in Europe, told Congress on Wednesday of
Moscow’s undersea capabilities.
“Their patrols into the Atlantic and throughout the Atlantic are at a high level most of the time, at a higher level than we’ve seen in years,” Cavoli testified before the House Armed Services Committee. “And this, despite all the efforts they’re undertaking in Ukraine.”
Cavoli’s assessment represents a grave warning for future threats Russia may pose to the U.S. and Ukraine’s other western backers. Though analysts have expressed concerns about Russia’s submarine forces in recent weeks, they have largely centered on the recent attention the Kremlin has focused on its Pacific Fleet, which conducted massive drills last week and which Moscow analyzed and claimed last week has “high
readiness.” Those maneuvers were seen in part as an acknowledgement of Moscow and Beijing’s increased partnership.
Putin previously raised concerns in the West in January when he dispatched surface warships to the Atlantic Ocean, including those the U.S. believes can fire hypersonic weapons potentially capable of defeating American missile defenses. Russia
fields 11 ballistic missile submarines, which analysts previously assessed it deploys largely off its Arctic coasts.
US ‘Thwarts’ Ukraine’s Plan To Bomb Moscow Using NATO
Weapons Fearing Massive Russian Retaliation – WP (eurasiantimes.com)
Ukraine had allegedly planned a large-scale strike on Moscow to mark the first anniversary of the full-scale invasion on February 24 but eventually abandoned the plan at the request of the United States, according to reports.
The Chief of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR), Major General Kyrylo Budanov, devised bold plans to launch daring strikes that would penetrate deep into the enemy’s territory, reported the Washington Post, citing a leaked classified document from the US National Security Agency.
The plan devised by
Budanov stirred up significant concern among officials in Washington. According to the report, Budanov instructed one of his officers to prepare for a large-scale assault on February 24 using all the resources available to Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence.
Budanov appears unwavering in his conviction that Ukraine will ultimately triumph over Russia. He has insisted that
Crimea, the heavily fortified peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014, will be recaptured by Kyiv this summer.
However, leaked documents indicate that the US intelligence community considers this scenario’s likelihood low.
The documents further
reveal that the US intelligence community is closely monitoring Budanov’s communications, a fact that may not come as a surprise to him.
The White House had long been concerned that any prospective assaults inside Russia would elicit a harsh response from the Kremlin.
Ukraine, keen to take the fight to Russia’s doorstep, has been occasionally held back by the United States, which has attempted to prevent the conflict from escalating into a direct confrontation between Washington and Moscow.
US officials view attacks on Russia, especially if they involve weapons provided by the US,
as extremely risky maneuvers that may provoke a strong reaction from Russian President Vladimir Putin, potentially leading him to use tactical nuclear weapons.
US Congress ‘Ukraine Victory Resolution’ is Little More Than Suicide Pact (sputnikglobe.com)
Two US Congressmen who sit on a bureaucratic relic of the Cold War have introduced the “Ukraine Victory Resolution” in the House of Representatives calling for the United States to support an outright victory for Ukraine in its conflict with
Russia.
Since the start of Russia’s Special Military Operation, the Helsinki Commission has worked closely with the Ukrainian government to craft legislation that supports Ukrainian goals and objectives when it comes to its conflict with Russia.
To call the Helsinki Commission a de facto adjunct of the Ukrainian government would not be an exaggeration. Indeed, the Ukrainian Ambassador to the US, Oksana Markarova, was the person chosen to make the official announcement regarding the presentation of the “Ukraine Victory Resolution” to the House of Representatives.
The text of the draft
resolution “affirms that it is the policy of the United States to see Ukraine victorious against the invasion and restored to its internationally recognized 1991 borders.”
Wilson and Cohen both have stated that the territorial integrity of Ukraine must be preserved, meaning that the conflict in Ukraine could not be ended until the territories of Kherson,
Zaporozhye, Donetsk, Lugansk, and Crimea are returned to Ukrainian sovereignty.
While the resolution introduced by Wilson and Cohen accurately reflects both current US policy objectives and Ukrainian government desires, it ignores two critical realities. First, it is Russia that is winning the conflict, not Ukraine, and as such any termination of the current
conflict will reflect this hard truth.
Moreover, to tie both the US and Ukraine to unrealistic expectations creates obstacles to any possible negotiated end to the conflict, meaning that the conflict will drag on to its inevitable conclusion—a strategic Russian victory—in a manner which will only increase the human, material, and financial cost to
Ukraine.
. . . The China-Russia Threat Is Real and Could Decimate Americans’ Finances ⋆ The Liberty Daily
One does not have to be an economist or financial advisor to recognize the massive threat to the U.S. economy posed by China and Russia. The leaders
of the BRICS coalition have as their stated goal to replace the dominance of the U.S. Dollar in the world. If they can even partially accomplish this goal, they will disrupt the abilities of American businesses and citizens to thrive.
If they can fully accomplish their goals, it would cause an economic collapse in the United States unlike anything we’ve
seen.
The U.S. Dollar’s status as the world’s reserve currency and the Petrodollar have enabled us to accumulate a massive national debt without crumbling under the weight of it because the vast majority of other nations would crumble along with us. But if China, Russia, or a globalist coalition pulls the financial rug out from under us, we will
fail.
What some Americans do not understand is that this would not be isolated to government finances. It’s understandable some would think they won’t be affected because our economy has always been resilient; even after major downturns such as 2008-09, most Americans were able to come out of it okay and even thrived a few years later under the Trump administration. But
what we’re seeing developing right now is very different from 2008-09. A sudden chain reaction of collapses, from stock markets to housing markets, would decimate wealth across the nation.
Central banks know this, which is why they’re moving as much as they can as quickly as possible to precious metals. According to London-based Financial
Times writer Daria Mosolova:
Some have said that what we’re seeing materializing around us is short-term. Even members of our own government have claimed this. But most economists are singing a different tune because de-dollarization is only one concern.
Xi’s phone call with Zelensky a diplomatic coup but China faces hurdles as peace broker, analysts say | South China Morning Post (scmp.com)
Wednesday’s phone call between Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Ukraine counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky was a diplomatic coup for Beijing but China still faces formidable challenges in mediating any peace between Ukraine and Russia, analysts said.
The hour-long conversation, which was cautiously welcomed by the US
and its European allies, signalled that China is willing to take a more active role as a peacemaker in regional conflicts, the analysts said.
It also shows that Chinese leaders now believe the country is capable of assuming greater responsibilities as a global power, and that such efforts could help mend its ties with Europe and bolster its diplomatic influence,
especially with its neighbours and in Central Asia, they added.
The call, the first between the two leaders since Russia invaded Ukraine more than a year ago, was a “crucial step” showing that China has now “normalised” its ties with Ukraine, said Wang Yiwei, an international relations professor at Renmin University in Beijing.
China to send envoy to Ukraine after Xi and Zelensky hold first call since Russian invasion
“To some extent, relations between China and Europe are also normalising; so are China’s ties with Russia, which are gradually emerging from the shadow of the crisis,” Wang said.
“China’s ties with Ukraine and Europe, and more broadly, with the West, should not be hijacked by the Ukraine crisis,” he added.
According to official readouts of the conversation by both countries, Xi said that China would send special envoy Li Hui to Ukraine and
other countries to help mediate peace discussions, while Zelensky gave his assurance that Kyiv would abide by the “one-China principle” – a central condition of Beijing for foreign countries managing ties with Taiwan.
