The history of Camp Hero and the Montauk Project is a bit of a mystery. The military base was originally built in the early 1940s as part of the war effort as well as a training ground for soldiers and the development of radar technology. In the 1970s, the base was
abandoned and turned over to the state of New York.
It was around this time that rumors began to circulate about the Montauk Project. According to some reports, the project was started as a response to the Philadelphia Experiment (a top-secret military experiment that allegedly caused the death of dozens of
sailors).
The goal of the Montauk Project was to create a portal through time and space as well as other dimensions.
The project is said to have been overseen by Dr. John von Neumann, a mathematician and physicist who was also involved in the Philadelphia Experiment. Von Neumann is said to have developed a machine called the “Montauk Chair” that was used to manipulate the mind and
emotions of subjects.
The project is said to have been a success but in 1983, when things went wrong. the base was destroyed, and the project was allegedly shut down.
